Weaving and Bamboo Craft Workshop Commemorating National Handloom Day

To commemorate National Handloom Day, Nenterprise and NEN, in collaboration with Li Cheh Kro Weaver's Producer Company, organized a three-day Weaving and Bamboo Craft Workshop from 4th–6th August 2026 across 12 villages, with the participation of 170 children and youths.

The workshop was designed to introduce children and young people to the traditional skills of weaving and bamboo craftsmanship, which have been passed down through generations. Through hands-on learning and interaction with experienced artisans, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the knowledge, creativity, and cultural significance embedded in these traditional practices.

In an increasingly modernized world, preserving indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage is more important than ever. The workshop provided a valuable space for young people to connect with their roots while learning practical skills that can contribute to their personal growth and future opportunities.

Beyond cultural preservation, weaving and bamboo craft help nurture creativity, patience, and self-reliance. These traditional skills can also create pathways for sustainable livelihoods, enabling young people to explore opportunities that are rooted in their own communities and cultural heritage.
