Social Enhancement Programmes
Chizami Weaves’ commitment extends beyond weaving textiles and providing livelihood opportunities for women, but also addresses unique challenges faced by children, women, and the larger weaver community. Our initiative focuses on providing essential information, knowledge, skills and services for the wellbeing of the weavers and their communities.
Our Key Initiatives include:
For Children
- Menstrual Health & Personal Safety Awareness: We conduct interactive, age-appropriate sessions to educate children on menstrual hygiene and personal safety. This ensures they grow up informed, confident, and empowered.
- Arts & Crafts Workshop: We also conduct Arts & Crafts Workshops for children of weavers and their community. These workshops empower children with practical skills while fostering creativity, self-reliance, and a sense of environmental responsibility. Through engaging, hands-on activities that emphasize repurposing, recycling, and eco-friendly practices, children not only develop their artistic talents but also discover potential future livelihood opportunities through their unique handmade creations.
For Women
- Women's Reproductive Health & Eye Care Camps: We organize health camps to bring essential healthcare services directly to our women's doorsteps. We empower them with vital knowledge, preventive care, and crucial access to medical support.
For All
- Educational Field Visits: We welcome students and community members to the Chizami Weaves unit. Here, they gain a deep understanding of traditional weaving techniques, the beauty of natural fibers, and the invaluable role our weavers play in sustaining this rich cultural heritage.
By integrating education, health, and livelihood support, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant community while preserving the art of handwoven textiles.
