Product & Design Development
At Chizami Weaves, we are dedicated to continuous skill enhancement for our weavers. While our artisans possess weaving skills, we add value to their skills by providing product and design development training. We focus on refining their weaving skills to increase their income and foster economic empowerment. Our comprehensive training programmes for the weavers cover essential topics, including understanding Project process, quality control, Standardized sizing, color combinations, Innovative designs for products like cushion covers, table mats, table runners, and bags. Such training also in stills a high level of professionalism and ensures the production of good-quality, sustainable textiles. The training is led by our own Master Weavers from within the community. They guide and mentor other weavers, especially younger generations, on these vital aspects, thereby promoting dignified work and leadership right here within our weaving community.
To create a sustainable future for our community, we believe in inspiring the next generation, ensuring they appreciate the rich weaving tradition and recognize the dignity in their mothers' and elders' work. This is why our weaving outreach also involves the young girls and children of our weaving community.
Weaving Workshops
We conduct weaving workshops to introduce young girls to traditional weaving, where they learn every step of the intricate weaving process, including: Understanding different yarn types and count; warping on the loom and weaving; mastering various weaving techniques and motif designs. Through hands-on exploration, we help them unleash their creativity, build confidence, and develop crucial skills for self-reliance and future livelihood opportunities. By passing down these invaluable skills, we empower young girls to create their own sustainable future, ensuring the vibrant tradition of handwoven textiles thrives for generations to come.
Arts, Crafts, Wood & Bamboo Craft Workshops
We conduct Arts Workshops, Crafts Workshops, and Wood and Bamboo Craft Workshops designed to empower children, rural youth, and artisans with practical, hands-on skills. These workshops aim to foster a mindset of environmental responsibility, creativity, and self-reliance by promoting the use of repurposed, recycled, and eco-friendly materials.
Participants learn traditional craft techniques using natural materials such as wood and bamboo, helping preserve cultural heritage while exploring sustainable livelihood opportunities. The workshops are tailored to enhance the skills of rural youth and artisans, enabling them to lead productive lives and contribute to community well-being.
Through hands-on training, participants are equipped with essential tools, techniques, and exposure to innovative product design that supports income generation. Ultimately, these workshops aim to build resilience, promote cultural continuity, and foster harmony within communities.
